November 27th

Paleo is over guys...

I was over in North Vancouver today and of course HAD to stop at a persian food market to pick up some lunch.... koobideh with persian rice... so tasty and delicious!

For dinner, my family decided to go out to eat... My food stock at home has completely depleted (save for some lemon grass... what am I going to do with JUST lemon grass?) lol... seriously now.

So I agreed to go out to Chen's for Shanghai-nese food...

Observe the non-paleo madness!
x 1 bowl of spicy beef schezuan noodles
x 1 shanghai noodles
x 1 basket of juicy steamed pork dumplings

- Deep fried bread with condensed milk.... oh gosh, heavenly!

- x 1 chicken smoked in chinese tea leaves
- x 1 giant "assorted" soup... vermicelli, beef balls, ham and cabbage

Who am I to say that I'm on paleo... haha.

November 25th-26th

My attempts to revert back to a paleo... gradually, lol

Observe! Egg scramble with enoki mushrooms, spinach, tomatoes and half a whole wheat pita (hate me now)... it was pretty darn good and balanced!

The following is my super protein quinoa dish... It's comprised of eggs, tuna and quinoa... super protein-licious! I made enough to snack on whenever I felt hungry

I also warmed up more of that left over tumeric chicken breast and baby bok choy with enoki mushrooms... mmmmm

During my night shift, I snacked on a helluva lot of tamarinds and fruit... got my co-workers to reminisce on their own childhoods growing up in south east asia and their exotic fruits. I want to try green mangoes and green tamarinds!

Night shift finally over, so I came home to some deliciously marinated steak, a hard boiled egg and a piece of brown toast to balance my diet.

I woke up in the middle of the day to brush my teeth but in the process, decided to warm up more of my protein quinoa with added pike! I love the bones! High in calcium... mmmmm

Then dinner! x 1 filets of salmon lightly pan seared with just black pepper
And the dish on the top was comprised of x 2 onions, x 3 large tomatoes and cilantro all sort of sauteed together... YUMMY!

Unfortunately that left me hungry 2 hours later... so I snacked on a whole bunch of nuts... I mean, LOTS of nuts. And took a bite of my sister's midnight ramen. Oh, and I might've eaten a whole mini lindt 70% dark chocolate bar. And a glass of almond milk.

I have no shame.

November 23rd-25th

Okay, paleo is just ridiculous when there's no preparation at home. I think I am going to downgrade to 50-70% paleo during my meals because this is silly. Night shifts make it impossible and lack of preparation leaves me to temptation ++.

Observe, my breakfast/lunch/dinner prior to the start of my night shift:
- x 1 small bit of brown rice (I KNOW IT'S NOT PALEO... NO CHOICE)
- x 1 small pan seared mahi mahi fish with bourbon and black pepper

Okay, so night shift rolls in and I start it with x 1 tall cup of black coffee.

The following was taken at like 3:30 am ... one of my co-workers had brought in balut eggs as per my request (balut in Filipino is a nearly-developed chicken embryo). Never had this before... apparently it's believed to have aphrodisiac effects... (like I need any more of that)

NOM! NOM! NOM!

Oh hells yeah... if this isn't paleo, I don't know what is... you can still see the feathers and definitely taste the bone!! It tastes like chicken!

So morning rolls around and our shift has ended. One of the long-standing students with us wanted to go out for breakfast as her farewell... because breakfast (aka my dinner) was at Denny's how can I say no to eggs benedict with HASHBROWNS.

That's right, paleo... you have won.

-----

As an addendum to the above posts, I did eat like hella more than what's posted above... night shifts just result in me losing track of what I've eaten. I warmed up tons of left over quinoa, baby bok choy with enoki mushrooms and tumeric chicken breast.

November 21st, Pre-Paleo

Alrighty, the 7 pm crew at the box has proposed another paleo challenge from November 22nd - December 22nd (before the holiday madness kicks in) and I've agreed to take part in this madness AGAIN.

Epic meals of dumplings and heaping piles of pasta have severely taken a toll on this poor body in the past month... combined with the fact that I've barely had a chance to workout, I just feel like a big butterball. Time to modify things a bit! I just don't think I'll be as strict as in the previous challenges because it's impossible not to have a little salt in the diet.

To top it off, this challenges also asks for 10 wall balls and 25 unbroken double unders everyday.... in other words, time to make up tons of missing days since I can't make it to the box as much as I want to.

---------------

PRE-Paleo treats:

- x 3 bowls of chocolate cheerios with milk!
- x 1 haagen daaz ice cream bar on a stick
